Adobe Black Friday
Black Friday is the most anticipated shopping event of the year, and this year Adobe partnered with 5 artists to create artwork that featured the use of generative AI in their work process. Each artist created a piece and then imagined their work coming to life through the Adobe A. In addition to the featured artists a handful of internal art and creative directors produced Adobe A’s using a variety of AI tools in the software programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Firefly. Together we created a porfolio of images and uploaded them to individual custom models of Adobe Firefly to generate variations and mimic our visual style.
The piece you see below was trained on my portfolio of digital illustrations and mirrored my color palette, drawing style and composition. This piece wasn’t hand drawn my me but was art directed using a series of text to image prompts to generate this piece with my custom model in Adobe Firefly. As with any new tool or program, there was lots of trial and error. Lots of late nights and lots of lost work.
I can’t thank the studio team, marketing team, and product team at Adobe enough for all of their hard work and dedication to getting this global campaign live. From start to finish this project took 8 months to create, train and generate over 60,000 static and animated assets for this campaign.
The importance of Black Friday promotional art to increase traffic
Black Friday is one of the most competitive times of the year for businesses, both online and in-store. While discounts and offers drive sales, compelling promotional art is what captures attention, builds excitement, and gets customers to click, shop, and share.
Why Black Friday promotional art matters
Grabs attention fast – Shoppers are flooded with ads and deals. Bold, eye-catching graphics cut through the noise.
Builds brand recognition – Consistent Black Friday visuals across emails, social media, and websites make your brand instantly recognizable.
Drives urgency – Design elements like countdown timers, bold typography, and striking colors reinforce limited-time offers.
Boosts clicks and traffic – Strong visuals paired with offers entice users to engage, driving higher web traffic and foot traffic.
Tips for effective Black Friday art
Use bold contrasts like black, red, and gold for maximum impact.
Highlight the discount or offer prominently.
Keep messaging simple and direct, clarity converts.
Adapt designs for multiple platforms (web banners, social ads, email headers, in-store posters).
